Dumfries Primestock Report

C & D Auction Marts Ltd held their weekly sale of Primestock on Wednesday 15th May 2019 in Dumfries.

Prime cattle met competitive bidding with Annan Butcher, R.Johnstone and Son purchasing limousin  heifers at 234p/kg abd 229p/kg from J.Jardine, Yett.

OTM cattle were forward in less numbers and were wanted.

Per head – AA - £1299.40 Dalmakethar, £1162.70 Edingham, £1058.40 Newbigging. Short - £1123.40 Rowanburnfoot. Hfd - £1101.60 East Lanegate.

Sim - £1087.30 High Townhead. Hol - £791.80 x2 Newhouse.

Per kilo - Lim - 160p Maxwellbank.AA - 151p Edingham, 147p Newbigging, 145p Dalmakethar. Short - 137p Rowanburnfoot. Sim - 131p High Townhead.

Hol - 110p Bruntshields, 109p Brownfield.

C & D Auctions Marts Ltd had forward 460 spring lambs, prime hoggs and cast ewes and rams.

Prime lambs sold to £110 Backburn and 255p/kg to average 241.7p/kg.

Char - £110 Backburn. Tex - £105 Maryfield

Prime hoggs met a much steadier demand for a very mixed offering.

203 Hoggs (25.5 -39) Ave 219.3p/kg to 238p/kg Thorns

Tex - £91 Thorns, £88 High Townhead. Bf -  £82 Thorns
Suff - £81 High Townhead
Cross - £80 Clonrae
