C&D Auction Marts held the Annual Sale of Texel Rams at Mains of Airies, Leswalt on Thursday 15th September 2022 on behalf of John Douglas and Family. 

Unpampered, grass fed and naturally presented, the rams met plenty of interest.  A flurry of online bidding along with ringside competition resulted in a fast trade with rams heading to the Scottish Borders and North to Orkney.

Top price of £1150 for an Airies Crusader sired shearling, this powerful tight skinned ram caught the eye of regular buyer J. Woodburn, Lockerbie.  Next best at £950 was a Cruiser sired heading to the Scottish Borders with B. Anderson & Son, others to £850, £800 (x3), £750, £700.  Shearlings averaged £571.72.

The breeding ewes forward met a buoyant demand with Romney ewes (1 crop) selling to £172 and £160.
