Dumfries Store and Breeding Sheep Report

C and D Auction Marts conducted their Annual Show and Sale of Scotch Mule Gimmers in Dumfries on Friday 25th August 2023 with 1,882 head forward.

The show was sponsored by Starlyne with judging in the capable hands of Hazel Weir, Sweetbit who found her champions in the pen of Mrs M Rorison, Clonrae which sold at £202.  The reserve pen from R. Graham, Coatston made £195.

Gimmers were generally smaller on the year with stronger end meeting plenty of competition.  Secondary sorts meeting less demand.  Sale average £171.29 (+£0.63)

Beltex gimmers topped the days trading at £225 from M. Craig, Glenhowan.
