Moffat Record Breaker, Spot sells for 4500gns
C & D Auction Marts Ltd in conjunction with Moffat Sheepdog Society held their Annual Spring Sale of 47 working collies and 4 pups at Hammerlands, Moffat on Saturday 12th March 2016.
One of the largest crowds seen at Moffat was in attendance on a dreich morning however trade was much better than expected with stylish working dogs meeting a big demand.
Leading the days trade at 4500gns (£4725) from Aberdeenshire trialist, George Simpson, Huntly with his April 2013 born Black & White Dog Spot. Spot was sired by B McAllisters Spot out of P McKeevers Nan and finds his new home in Lancashire with the succesful purchasers being M/s Crowther, Oldham.
Next best at 4400gns (£4620) was achieved with Ardmor Jim an August 2013 Black & White Dog from Hugh Johnstone, Turriff. He crosses the border to Cumbria with M/s Harrison, Boot being the final bidders.
A late entry from David Gilchrist, Lauder sold at 3300gns (£3465) for 'Gary' an August 2012 Tricoloured Dog, he remains in the Scottish Borders after being purchased by T Douglas, Innerleithen.
James Henry Weir travelled from Appin, Argyll and had a successful day when 'Julie' a tricoloured December 2013 born Bitch sold at 3150gns (£3307.50) to Loch Lomonside Farmers M/s Rankin, Luss.
Best of the Irish Entries at 2500gns (£2625) was paid to John Kinney, Ballycastle with his young Black & White Dog 'Wolf' June 2015 born, heading to Halterburn in the Scottish Borders with CR Purvis.
Registered broken dogs averaged £1966.13
