Ervie Hereford Bull Sale

C & D Auctions conducted the Annual Spring Live and Online Bidding Sale of Hereford and  Aberdeen Angus Bulls at Mains of Airies, Kirkcolm, Stranraer on behalf of John Douglas and Familyon Thursday 10th February 2022.

A grand crop of 38 rising 2year old naturally shown, unpampered bulls were presented to a large crowd of both local and distant buyers who travelled to the far southwest of Scotland and along with online bidders, a 100% clearance was achieved (11 bulls sold online) to average £2852 (from £2000 to £5000)

Ervie Advance 202699 topped the Herefords at £5000. Much admired from the Lisette family, and sired by imported herd sire, RL1 Achiever 151966N, long and stylish with good EBV figures, being purchased by long-term repeat customer, R.Parker, Drumdow Black Baldies.

£4600 was paid for Ervie Advance 202726. Another from the Lisette family, and again sired by 151966N, this easily fleshing and correct young bull was purchased by another Wigtownshire Black Baldie breeder and repeat buyer, G. McKie & Co, Ballaird.

Ervie Advance 202776 from the Crocus family, this powerful boy sold at £3600 to yet another repeat buyer, DT Lang and Son, Wellhead, Lanarkshire for commercial and pedigree breeding.
Heading to the home of the breed in Herefordshire is Ervie Advance 202868. He was knocked down at £3400 in a joint purchase to R T Davies & Co., Westwood Herefords and W Chase, Chase Herefords.

Volume buyer for bulls to use on his dairy herd was another repeat buyer, Scott Shearlaw, Maybole, bidding online to a top price of £3400 and securing 4 good Hereford bulls to average £2825.

The 5 Airies Angus bulls sold to £4800 with Airies Sholto W759 heading to South Wales. Buyer of this good son of Fordel Earl Astrix U299 was new customer, Glyn Gwilym and he is also destined for Black Baldie production.

The 38 bulls grossed £108,400 to average £2,852
