Longtown Primestock Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 36 cattle, 3,953 prime lambs and 4,408 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 8th November 2018.

A larger and improved entry of cast cows and bulls were forward, with trade brisk throughout and more required on a weekly basis. Sale toped at 135p for a Limousin cow from D Baxter, Moss Side, Hethersgill, with others to 117p for Shorthorns shown by Meikle Whitriggs, Corrie and Simmental cows to 114p from JG Murray, Branxholm Braes, Hawick.

Sale topped at 263p per kilo for Beltex from DS & RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill. Heavy lambs sold to 196p from J Oliver & Sons, Waltonwoodhead, Brampton with Greyfaces to £80 from JL Gledson, Buteland, Hexham and Blackfaces to £75 again from JL Gledson, Buteland, Hexham. Lightweights sold to 171p per kilo from Chapelhope Trust, Chapelhope.
