Kintyre Breeding Sheep Sale 2014

The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC in conjunction with The Kintyre Agricultural Society held its Annual Sale on Friday 26th September 2014, when a catalogued entry of 72 Rams and Ram Lambs together with 234 Female Breeding Sheep were forward to a crowded ring of local farmers keen for stock.

As has been the case at most sales this season, quality stock was keenly sought after and sold at high rates.  The lesser end of the scale proved harder to cash.  However, the majority of vendors went home satisfied with the day’s trading.

The sale was topped at £580 for a Suffolk shearling ram from Messrs Cameron, Gartvaigh, purchased by Messrs Millar, High Cattadale.

Females topped at £140 for a Texel gimmer from Messrs Cairns, Lochside, purchased by Messrs McCallum, Strathnafanaig.
