Kelso Ram Sale 2017
C & D Auction Marts Limited were privileged to sell 484 rams of all breeds at the Cydectin Kelso Ram Sales on Friday 8th September 2017.
An excellent entry of 256 MV Accredited Crossbred rams were sold in Ring 4, where trade was brisk, especially for the best quality on offer, with many four figure prices being realised. On Thursday evening, we held a show for Crossbred rams which was kindly sponsored by C&D Rural and ably judged by Mr Jack Buckle, Penrith who eventually awarded the overall Champion to lot 1611 from Messrs Taylor, Heathery Hall, Thankerton which went on to realise the rings top price of £1,600 and found a new home with Messrs Munro, Kinloch, Ladybank, Fife.

Also 51 Charollais shearlings and ram lambs sold in Ring 6, with several outstanding runs of tups forward and C&D selling the top price Charollais on the day with HW Sloan, Riggheads selling a massive tup at £1,700 to Messrs Balcomb, Romney Marsh, with the rings leading average coming from Ben Radley, Loaningfoot selling his eight rams to a top of £1,100 and averaging £735.

Blue Texels in Ring 1, sold to a top of £480 (x2), £450 from Messrs J Lyle, Nether Pratis, Fife.
Suffolk rams in Ring 14, to £400 from T & H Armstrong, with others to £390 from J M Carlile, Fowrass.
Meanwhile in Ring 19, the firm had an excellent run of Texel rams with the best quality tups regularly between £700 - £1,000. The leading price was £2,800 for an outstanding tup sold by WJC & SJ Weir, Mainside, this boy stood 2nd in the show were a large entry of at least 35 tups were forward. Messrs Weir sold a run of six rams to average £1,425.
