Longtown Store Cattle Sale Report
The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart plc held their fortnightly sale of Store & Breeding Cattle at Longtown on Tuesday 18th March 2014.
A smaller show of store cattle forward with mainly younger cattle on offer, although trade would be slightly sharper on the fortnight and more required.
Bullocks topped at £1,050 for a Charolais from R. Johnston, Kimmeter Green. Heifers to £880 for a British Blue also shown by Mr Johnston.
Breeding cattle were a good trade, even a shade dearer. The sale included the dispersal from Messrs Young, Bankhead, whose run of in calf cows sold to £1,060 and £940 for British Blues, Simmentals sold to £940. Cows with calves at foot sold to £850 for a Blue Grey with Shorthorn calf from Greenleycleugh.
