Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their fortnightly sale of 127 store cattle on Tuesday 8th November 2016. A very mixed show of store cattle, with a shortage of strong cattle. Trade would be in line with national trend. The sale peaked at £1,150 for a Limousin bullock from W & J Thomson, Hownam Grange, Yetholm, who sold others to £1,000 and Limousin heifers to £1,060 and £1,000. Bulls sold to £900 for a Simmental from High Dovecote.

Also, forward today was an entry of 85 breeding cattle at the monthly sale. The highlight of the sale being the two dispersals, firstly from D & C Telford, Woodside, Roadhead, whose run of cows topped at £1,450, £1,420 (x2) and £1,180. The second dispersal came from Messrs Douglas, Damhead, Teviothead, who’s cows sold to £1,450 and £1,150 twice.

In-calf heifers sold to £1,050 for a pen of Angus from E A Dodd, Roanstree.
