Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their catalogue sale of 534 store cattle and suckler calves on Tuesday 28th February 2017.

An excellent show of quality and all credit to the vendors for turning their cattle out to such a high standard. Younger shapely cattle sold extremely well and beyond vendor’s expectations, overall trade was very good with the sale average up £44.58 on the year for more cattle sold.

The sale topped at £1280 for an outstanding Limousin bullock from local farmers R & MG Elliott & Son, Hallburn Croft, who also sold a lovely black Limousin heifer for £1,270. Saler bullocks topped at £1,245 from Messrs Williamson, Dykehead. Charolais bullocks from W & A Forster, The Nook topped at £1,240, with heifers from the same home selling to £1,160.
