Longtown Store Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward an entry of 1,144 store cattle at the Annual Kirkcambeck sale on Saturday 16th October 2021.

A much-increased entry of very well-bred native cattle, which all vendors must be congratulated, as cattle were turned out in fine form albeit not as far forward as last year. Cattle were presented to a full ringside of local and distant purchasers ensuring all classes of cattle sold to a fast trade being very similar to last year’s very high rates of return for 431 head more sold.

Beef Shorthorn Steers sold for £1130 from FW Graham Highfield House

Topping the sale was a strong pair of Shorthorn x steers consigned by M/s FW Graham, Highfield House, Ripon realising £1,420. The Beef Shorthorn section of the sale was kindly supported by Morrsions, which Longtown Auction company extend their thanks for their continued support.

Angus steers topped at £1,180 for a pair of very well-bred steers consigned by M/s JW Forster & Sons, Smithsteads, Bewcastle

Blue Grey cattle were forward in great numbers topping at £1,150 for an outstanding steer consigned by M/s RM & AE Todd, Eden Park, Penrith.

Galloway steers also topped at £1,150 for a super steer consigned by M/s DHS Woodhouse, Gibstown, Roweltown.

The Whitslade Shield for best pen of heifers was present to JJ Teare, Ballavair, Isle of Man, for a pen of 5 Galloway heifers selling to £800.
