Annual Spring Kirkcambeck Sale
C&D Auction Marts Limited held their Annual Spring Kirkcambeck Sale in conjunction with the Special Spring Sale of Continental bred store cattle on Saturday 19th March 2022.
A fantastic entry of traditional native bred cattle was presented to a full ringside of potential purchasers ensuring a serious trade throughout with vendors leaving delighted with their days trading.
Topping the sale was a forward Belted Galloway bullock realising £1,350 consigned by M/s CT & J Wigham, Hethermill. Many more could have been sold to vendor’s advantage. The sale of beef bred shorthorns, that was kindly supported by the Beef Shorthorn Cattle Society and Morrisons, was well received topping at £1,210 for bullocks Consigned by M/s Brass, Espland, Appleby.
Continental bred store cattle sold exceptionally well for an entry of predominantly yearling grass cattle and were short of purchaser requirements. Several lots sailed past £1,300 and topping at £1,430 for a very classy Limousin cross Heifer consigned by M/s DA & MA Teasdale, Grindon Hill, Hexham, who also had a 9 month old black Limousin cross heifer to £1,420. This run of 10 month old, very well bred cattle went on to average a mighty £1,230. Many more cattle can be marketed here at Longtown to vendor advantage.
