Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited held their Annual Spring Kirkcambeck Sale of native bred cattle in conjunction with the Special Annual Spring Sale of Continental bred store cattle on Saturday 18th March 2023.

A fantastic entry of traditional native bred cattle was presented to a packed ringside of potential purchasers ensuring a serious trade throughout with vendors leaving delighted with their days trading.

Topping the native bred cattle section was a fantastic, pen of Belted Galloway bullocks consigned by CT & J Wigham & Sons, Hethermill, Kirklinton, realising £1,620. Heifers topped a £1,500 for Belted Galloways consigned from the same good home.

Many more could have been sold to vendor’s advantage. The next Kirkcambeck sale will be held in the Autumn on Saturday 14th October 2023. Please do not hesitate to contact our auctioneers for further enquiries.

The sale of Beef bred Shorthorns, that was kindly supported by the Beef Shorthorn Cattle Society and Morrisons, was well received topping at £1,420 for bullocks consigned from Archbank Farming, Moffat.

Continental cattle sold to recent high rates of return topping at £1,670 for a wonderful Limousin heifer consigned by TV & M Storey, Tinnishall, who also sold the top price steer at £1,630. Next sale of store cattle will be held Tuesday 11th April, with the special May term sale to be held on Tuesday 9th May.
