Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their Annual Suckler Calf Sale together with Store Cattle on Saturday 21st October 2023.

The pre-sale show was kindly sponsored by Dodd & Co and ably judged by Mr James Crichton, Loughrigg, Egremont. After much deliberation the championship was awarded to a Limousin x heifer shown by WS Waugh, The Flatt, Roadhead which later sold for £1,400.

Reserve Champion - Catslackburn £1,200

Topping the steer section on two separate occasions was two fantastic Limousin steers consigned by regular vendors Phillip & Dan Walton, Wanwood Hill, Alston, which went under the hammer to realise £1,400, this superb run of 9 calves went on to attain a sale average of £1,275 at 6-7 months of age.
