Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their Annual Prize Show and Sale of 535 store cattle on Saturday 5th October 2024.

A fantastic show of very well bred cattle, mostly between 12-17 months of age was forward and met a full ringside of eager purchasers ensuring all classes of cattle were highly sought after. Credit must go to all vendors for putting on such a quality show which had to be seen.

A big thank you to Elaine Sedgewick, Longmyers Farm, Durham for undertaking the extremely hard task of judging. Elaine awarded her champion beast to an outstanding Limousin bullock consigned by WH & DA Gass, Nunscleugh, Bewcastle, this later went on to realise £1800. Reserve champion and also taking home the cup for best Charolais beast on show was awarded to M/s Bell, Low Houses, Brampton for a terrific Charolais bullock making £1890. The show was kindly sponsored by Capontree Vets.  

Top Price of the day went to JM & EM Neve, Riggfoot. For an 18 month old Charolais bullock that went on to realise £1,920 this magnificent run of Charolais and Limousin bullocks went on to average an outstanding £1,730 for 8 sold.
