Longtown Store Sheep Sale Report
The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 1,475 store hoggs and 115 breeding sheep at their Sale at Longtown on Tuesday 4th February 2014.
Another fine show was forward and the usual ring of buyers ensured stores remained easily sold at recent high rates.
The sale was topped at £80 for Rouge from Dinwoodie Green; Suffolk £77.50 Shaw Cottage, £77 Glentoo, £67 Hesket House and Shaw of Dryfe; North Country Cheviot £76 North Synton, £75 Borthwickshiels, £70 Kirkbride; Texel £76 Shaw Cottage, £75, £74.50 Barnbackle, £74 High Stenries and North Gillbank; Cheviot Mule £67 Kirkbride Farm; Beltex £67, £62 Winterhope, £60 The Hagg; Half Bred £66, £61.50 Marwhirn; Greyface £65 Nether Barr, £59 North Gillbank, Hesket House and Shankfieldhead; Blackface £58 Bowanhill, £55 Dalveen, £52 Shaw of Dryfe; Kerry Hill £56.50 The Hagg; Swaledale £55, £53 Nether Barr; Hill Cheviot £45 Glendinning, £43 Carlenrigg.

Breeding sheep topped at £155, three times, for Texel gimmers scanned at 170% from Keith Holm Farm, others £152 and £145 from the same home. Lleyn ewes (correct below) £59 Castle Creavie.
