Longtown Sheep Sale Report
STORE SHEEP
The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart plc had forward 5,002 store lambs at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 7th October, 2014.
A good show of lambs, more buyers present, trade the dearest so far this season, many more could have been sold to vendors advantage.
Top of £70 and £67.50 for Dutch Texels from Greenside, £66 Binks; Texel £68 Powcroft, £64 Crosshouse, £63.50 Rinnion Hills and Winshield; Suffolk £65 Lustruther, £64.50 Gillalees; Lleyn £62 Lustruther; Charollais £61 High House; Cheviot Mule £61 Powisholm; Greyface £57.50, £52.50 Crosshouse, £53 Bush; Romney Marsh £53 Rammerscales; Swaledale £45, £40 Winshield.
Greyface ewe lambs to £77 Powcroft.
Cast ewes to £66 Winshield, cast rams £52 Black Mountain.
Hill Cheviots (1,812) sold at £5 per head up on the week. Top £62, £60 Wardlaw, £60.50 West Deloraine, £60 Parkhill. Hill Northies £63 Meiklewhitriggs, £60.50 Lymiecleugh.
Blackfaces (1,396) also got the same price rise. Top £52 Sewing Shields and The Newton, £51.50 Crindledykes, £50 Townshields and Crowhall Farm.
