Longtown Store Sheep Sale Report

STORE LAMBS

The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart plc had forward 7,198 store lambs and feeding ewes at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 11th November, 2014.

Another excellent show attracted attracted more buyers, as a result trade was £4 to £5 dearer on the week.

Top of £76 for Texels from Townhead Farm, others £70 High Mossthorn, £69.50 Wanwood Hill; Suffolk £73, £70 Routin Lynn, £67.50 Gillalees, £66.50 Mains; Charollais £64.50 Henrys Hill and Hazelbank, £63.50 Castlenook; Greyface £64.50 Gatehouse, £64 Bayldon, Townhead and Dalloig; Cheviot Mule £63.50 Flatt; Leicester £59 Allensgreen; Romneys £54.50 Rammerscales; Kerry Hill £53.50 Chesterhall Parks; Swaledale £36.50 Sheepriggs.

Cheviot lambs (1,644) again a big trade, top Hill Cheviot to £70 for a shepherds lamb from Falnash, others to £59 Granton. Hill Northies to £69.50 Tormore, £67.50 Priesthaugh, £63 High Lodore.

Blackface lambs (1,612) a topping trade to £63.50 and £59 Allensgreen, £58.50 Ramshope, £57 Wanwood Hill and Over Kirkhope.

Ewe lambs to £74 for Greyface from Albierigg, £72, £70 Harsondale; Texel £72 Harsondale; Blackface £59 Crew.

Cast ewes to £94 for Texels from Bowan Hill, Greyface £69, hill types to £59 for Cheviots from Alnham Castlehill, Blackface £50 Crindledykes and Bowan Hill, Swaledale £49.50 Allenheads. Cast rams to £52 Auchencorvie.
