Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart plc had forward 1,002 store lambs and feeding ewes at their final sale of 2014 at Longtown on Tuesday 23rd December.

A good entry for the final sale met another dear trade with numbers far short of requirements.

Top of £88, £81, £79 for Texels from East Middle, others to £78 Rhoin, £77 Southdene Lodge; Suffolk £72 Muirfield, £69 High Crubasdale, £67 Staffler; Charollais £66 Staffler; Blackface £60 Ramshope, £52.50 Dippen, £51 High Crubasdale; Greyface £60 Longbeoch and Kilncroft; Hill Cheviot £55 High Crubasdale, £53 Auchencorvie; Kerry Hill £53.50 Kilncroft.

Feeding ewes to £108 for Texels from East Middle, hill ewes to £53.50 Longbeoch, cast rams to £91 East Middle.
