Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart plc had forward 945 store hoggs and ewes with lambs at foot at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 14th April 2015.

Store hoggs very dear to a top of £84 for North Country Cheviots from North Synton.  Hill Cheviots £65.50 Limekilns & Auchenhill; Texels £62.50 Flatt; Herdwicks £54.50 Coniston who also sold Swaledales at £48.

Cast ewes £65.50 Doddick.

More ewes and lambs were on offer with all classes at extreme rates and short of requirements.

Ewes with singles to a top of £80 and £76 each for Texel ewe from Church View, who also sold Halfbreds at £67.50 and Greyfaces £60.50.

Ewes with twins £76 each for Suffolk crosses from Church View, who also sold Greyfaces at £60.50 and Bleu de Maines at £57.  Texels £67 Dufton Wood; Lleyns £65.50 Dufton Wood.

Shearlings with singles Texels £77 Church View

Ewe hoggs to £90 for Texels from North Synton; Greyfaces £100 Hopestead & North Country Cheviots £78.50 North Synton.
