Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart plc had forward 2,004 store lambs at their opening sale at Longtown on Tuesday 28th July 2015.

Store lambs a quality show, attracted a packed ring of buyers who bid freely throughout the sale with averages down £5 on the year. With an abundance of grass about, many more could have been sold to vendor’s advantage.

Top of £66 for Texels from Amos Hill; Suffolk £65.50 Abbey Moss; Cheviot Mule £59 Hownam Grange; Beltex £59 Pallet Hill; Greyface £49.50 High Edges Green.

The annual consignment from Messrs Bradbury, Satchells, Lilliesleaf, Melrose sold Suffolk cross Cheviots to a top of £59.
