Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart plc had forward 2,872 store lambs at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 18th August, 2015.
Another fine show attracted more buyers with trade again sharper on the week. Top of £65 for Texels from Messrs Bradbury, Satchells; Suffolk cross £62 Tarrasfoot, £60 Satchells and Taylorburn; Half Bred £60 Oliver Road; Beltex £58.50, £57 Sharplaw; Greyface £56.50 Harsondale, £55 Taylorburn, £54 Edges Green; Charollais £53 Redhouse; Lleyn £52.50 Dolphinston; Cheviot £51.50 Stonehall; Dutch Texel £51 Amoshill; Blackface £47 Edges Green.
At the August Fair of breeding sheep there was an entry of 601, with plenty of buyers forward trade was buoyant throughout. Top of £112 and £111 for Scotch Mule shearlings from Englishtown. Ewes to £100 for Cheviot Mules from Dallowie; Suffolk cross £97 Hallburn; Texel £98 Hallburn, £96 Dallowie; Greyface £90 Calvo. Rams to £230 for Millenium Blue for Craiglea.
