Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C & D Auction Marts Limited had forward 7,342 store lambs and feeding ewes at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 3rd November, 2015.

Another excellent show attracted buyers from a wide area, especially Wales. Trade was fast with all classes selling at similar rates on the week.

Top of £68 for Suffolks from Station Road, others £63 Barncroft, £60.50 Coshogle; Texel £67 Kingside, £65.50 East Foreshield, £64 New Farm and Beckfoot; Beltex £64.50 Davidson Avenue, £61 Crindledykes; Lleyn £62 Dolphinston; Charollais £60 New Farm; Greyface £59 Greensburn, £58.50 Crindledykes, £57 Hesleywell; Hampshire £54 Flatt; Swaledale £36.50 Woodside, £33 Sheepriggs, £32.50 Hesleywell.

Cast ewes to £88 Kingside, hill types £59.50 Crindledyke. Cast rams to £78 High Thorneyburn.

Cheviots (2,032) met a firmer trade. Top of £56 Potholm, £52.50 West Deloraine, £52 Hartsgarth and Hopsrig, Northies to £62.50 Hownam Grange.

Blackfaces (2,115) a very good show, high rates easily maintained. Top of £55.50 Percy Farms, £52 Wanwood Hill and Craigengillan Estate, £50.50 Blackburn.
