Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 3,034 Store Hoggs and Feeding Ewes, also 282 in lambers at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 2nd February, 2016.

All classes of hoggs were short of requirements, another very strong trade prevailed with many buyers to the fore.

Top of £81 for a Beltex from Messrs Story, Newbiggin; Texels to £80, £77 Skelfhill, £78.50 Greenburn; Charollais £79 Newbiggin; Suffolk £76.50 Ormiston, £74 Barnbackle; Berrichon £72.50 Wardrew; Greyface £71 Greyside, £68 Nether House, £67.50 Kilncroft; North Country Cheviot £70.50, £64.50 Clerkhill; Hill Cheviot £64.50 Hartsgarth, £60 Skelfhill; Blackface £64.50 Little Larg, £60.50, £60 Gatehouse; Herdwick £62 Coach House; Lleyn £62 Height; Swaledale £50 Branthwaite.

Feeding ewes to £85.50 for Texels from Winshield, hill types £56.50, £50 for Blackfaces from Tower Farm. Cast rams to £65 Eden Grove.

A similar show of in lambers met a dearer trade to a top of £100 for Texels from Haithwaite. Greyface to £90 Glenkiln Farms. Ewe hoggs to £72.50 for Hill Cheviots from Cowburn.
