Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 2,607 Store Hoggs & Feeding Ewes, also 209 In Lamb Ewes & Geld Hoggs at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 16th February, 2016.

Store hoggs were a larger entry but with plenty of buyers to the fore, last week’s outstanding trade easily maintained.

Top of £86 for Texels from Mr Nicholson, Bombie, others £83.50 Midknock Farm; Beltex £83.50 Moorside; Suffolk £77.50 Hillview, £75 Marwhirn, £72.50 New Blainslie; Greyface £73 Parkhouse (Dover), £68.50 Broomhills; North Country Cheviot £72.50 Carruthers, £69.50 Humbleheugh; Charollais £72 Moss Side; Jacob £67.50 Wardrew; Half Bred £67 Marwhirn; Blackface £66.50, £64.50 Wardrew, £62.50, £60.50 Drummuckloch; Hill Cheviot £65 Falnash; Swaledale £44 Peghorn Lodge.

Cast ewes to £62.50 Old Irvine, cast rams £58.50 Coolingel.

Breeding sheep met a more lively trade selling to £96 and £88 for Scotch Mule geld hoggs from Glenlea.  In lamb Easycare ewes scanned triplets to £75 and £72.50 Synton Mains.
