Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 414 head of Ewes & Lambs and 1,392 Store Hoggs & Feeding Ewes at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 5th April 2016.

There was a large crowd present for the opening sale of Ewes and Lambs. Demand was very strong and more could easily be sold to vendor’s advantage.

Ewes with singles topped at £67 for Texels from Barnbackle, others to £66 Millfield Demesne, Suffolks to £65 Crosshill and £63 Barnbackle, Greyfaces to £54 Barnbackle.

Ewes with twins topped at £63 for Suffolks from Barnbackle, who also sold Texels at £60 and Greyface at £54.

Hoggs with singles topped at £64 for Texels from Underwood.

Hoggs with twins to £60 for Texels from Rockhallhead.

Ewe hoggs to £90 for Greyfaces from Broomhouse, with Texels to £83.50 from Underwood.

Store hoggs were a large entry for the time of year, usual buyers and trade just as dear.
