Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 484 head of Ewes with Lambs at foot and 453 Store Hoggs at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 12^th April, 2016.

Ewes and Lambs were a similar entry, usual buyers present, trade on par with last week’s high rates. Top £64 and £66 each for Texels with singles from Golden Gate, Lleyn to £60 Dufton Wood, Greyface to £56 High House, Hill Cheviots to £47 Golden Gate.  Ewes with twins sold to a top of £60 for Lleyns from Dufton Wood, Greyface to £53 Reagill Grange who also sold Suffolk Cross at £58 and Cheviot Mules at £58, Blackface to £49 High House and Hill Cheviots to £41 Cross Hill.

Store Hoggs mainly final draws but still a strong demand. Top £90 for a Beltex from Stanley Road; Texel £83, £80 Stanley Road, £70 Keepershield; Half Bred £63 Keepershield; Charollais £61 Calvo; Greyface £56 Drinkstone; Cheviot Mule £63 Calvo; Hill Cheviot £62 Bloch; Blackface £58 Burnfoot.
