Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward an entry of 826 head of ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot at Longtown on Tuesday 31st May 2016.

A smaller entry forward attracted plenty of buyers, with trade the dearest of the season. Many more could have been sold to vendor’s advantage.

Top price of £83 for geld Greyface hoggs from Prospect Farm.

Hoggs with singles sold to £70 each for Suffolk crosses from Low Tipalt and Texels from Prospect, with Greyface to £69 also from Prospect.

Shearlings with singles to £66 for Texels from Red House. Shearlings with twins to £64 for Greyface from Low Tipalt with Charollais to £64 Red House. Roussin to £50 from Gall.

Correct ewes to £63 for Suffolk crosses with twins from Low Tipalt, other to £60 from Red House. Texels to £61 and £60 from Low Tipalt and Townfoot Park. Cheviot Mule to £57 from Reagill Grange who also sold Greyface to £55 and Charollais to £53.

Ewes with singles sold to £60 for Texels from Townfoot Park.

Hill ewes to £57 for Cheviots with twins from Girnwood with others to £55 Red House and Swaledale to £38 and £37 from Smitheys and Stockasteads. Singles to £55 each for Cheviots from Girnwood with Swaledale to £38 from Smitheys and £34 from Stockasteads.
