Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 4,673 store lambs together with Breeding Sheep and Rams at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 16th August 2016.
Store lambs would be dearer. Included in the sale was a Special Prize Show and Sale of 1102 Greyface (Mule) lambs, which was ably judges by Michael Lawson of Wigton, whose awards were as follows:
1st – Messrs Walton, Allensgreen and sold to £68
2nd – Messrs Walton, Penpeugh and sold to £64.50
3rd – Mr W E Lee, Lintley and sold to £64.50
Great credit to the vendors who supported and presented their sheep to perfection, with trade up £6 on the week.
Top of £79 twice for Texels from Gillalees and Carlenrigg, others to £75 Red House. Beltex to £75.50 Midtown. Suffolk to £73 Satchells. North Cheviots to £59.50 Whiteknowe and £58 Meiklewhitriggs. Lleyns to £65.50 Gatehousecote. Charollais to £62 Cardle. Blackface to £54 Smiddy Hill and £48.50 Merkland.
Breeding sheep proved good to sell with Greyface shearlings to £116 from Englishtown.
Correct ewes to £90 Coach House. Rams to £190 Coach House
