Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
STORE LAMBS
C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 4,052 store lambs at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 30th August 2016.
More interest from buyers and another good show of sheep, with trade still remaining very dear.
Top of £81.50 for Texels from Townfoot (Rutter), others to £80 Auchtenny. Beltex to £70 Townfoot (Rutter). Suffolks to £70.50 Tarrasfoot, who also sold ewe lambs at £76. Charollais to £64.50 Tarrasfoot. Lleyns to £59.50 from Dolphinston. Greyface to £67 Hesleywell, £64 Taylorburn and £61.50 High Lovelady Shield.
Blackface to £43.50 Smiddy Hill. Zwartble to £55 Blinkbonny. Swaledale to £30.50 Peghorn Lodge.
Cast ewes to £69 from Lamberton.
BREEDING SHEEP
C & D Auction Marts Limited held their Annual Main Sale of 1,946 head of Breeding Ewes and Shearlings at Longtown on Tuesday 30th August 2016, also this day saw the Annual Sale of Zwartbles and some early season rams.
A fine show of 1,946 breeding sheep of all classes were forward to a busy ring of local and distant buyers which saw an animated trade for ewes with the shearling trade rather selective. The sale also included an excellent dispersal of 450 Texel and Mule ewes on behalf of Messrs Siddle, Horlsey Hill, which topped the sale at £162 for a pen of two shear ewes, selling to Messrs Bradbury, Satchells.

A small sale of Zwartble sheep and breeding rams were forward selling to a top of £350 for a Beltex x ram from Sloan, Riggheads. Others to £300 Riggheads. Suffolks to £220 from Lamberton.
Zwartbles topped at £120 for a shearling ram from Kate Bell, Lonsdale Place, who also sold 3 x £100. Ewe lambs to £72 The Knowe and £68 The Pond House.
