Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 809 store hoggs and feeding ewes at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 3rd January 2017.

A good company of buyers were present for the first sale of 2017. Trade was sharp with all classes easily maintaining late high rates.

Top today was £78 for a Texel cast ewe from The Ash (Thompson), cast rams to £71 for Texels from Towsbank. Hoggs sold to £72.50 for Texels from Lyne Villa, Hethersgill, with others to £70 Bayldon and £68 Beech Grove. Cheviot Mules to £70 Whitehouse. Beltex to £69 Albierigg. Suffolks to £63.50 Albierigg. Greyface to £65 Low Closegill. Hill Cheviots to £55 Blakehope, £48.50 Binks and £48 Clerkhill. Blackface to £55 Cowden and £50 Gibbs Hill. Swaledale to £30 Horsley Hill. Leicester to £54 Whitehouse.
