Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 2,467 head at their weekly sale of store hoggs, cast ewes and rams plus Inlamb sheep at Longtown on Tuesday 7th February 2017.

A smaller show of stores attracted the usual buyers. Trade was again strong with all classes again meeting an exceptional demand. Top of £79 for Beltex from Greenwell Meadows. Texels to £75 Cramond Hill and £72.50 Tower. Suffolks to £63 Foulshiels and The Gall. North Cheviots to £58 from Marwhirn and £57 Carruthers. Hill Cheviots to £56 Patties Hill. Charolais to £62 Woodfoot. Half-bred to £60 Marwhirn. Greyface to £61.50 South Dene. Blackface to £58.50 Blakehopeburnhaugh and £55 Patties Hill. Swaledale to £48 The Brigg.

Cast ewes to £64.50 Tower and Cast rams to £73 The Newton.

A small entry of correct inlamb ewes were very easy to clear with Lleyns to £80 from Castle Creavie and Easycares to £76 The Old Smithy.
