Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward 1,355 store hoggs & feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 21st March 2017.
With more buyers present and a smaller entry, trade was again on par with current high rates. Top of £72 for Beltex from High Stenries. Texels to £69 from Priestdykes and £68 High Stenries; Suffolks to £64.50 from Hayfield; North Cheviots to £68.50 Humbleheugh and £60 Kilfinnan; Cheviot Mules to £66 Flatt (Atkinson); Greyface to £73 from Low Stokoe and £63 Monk Farm; Hill Cheviots to £57 from Blackhall; Easycare to £55 Chatton Park; Blackfaces to £48.50 from Hayfield and £48 Patties Hill; Swaledale to £49 Keskadale Hill Farm Herdwick to £49.50 from Sherwens Terrace.
Feeding ewes to £57 from Blackhall and cast rams to £77 from Low Stokoe. Goats to £58 Monk Farm.
At the Special Late sale of In Lamb ewes where there was an entry of 392. Buyers were keen for sheep with all classes meeting a sound trade. Top of £131 for Texels carrying triplets from Capelfoot, who also sold Greyfaces carrying triplets at £90. Swaledale ewes sold to £75 and £72 (x2) from Low Stokoe and Hill Cheviots to £58 from Kilfinnan.
