Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Ltd has forward another large entry of 1,170 ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot on Tuesday 23rd May 2017. Today was the second show and sale of hoggs with lambs at foot, with a great show of hoggs and lambs forward for Rosie Thompson, High Hall, Westward to judge.
The sale was topped at by the first prize pen of Greyface hoggs and lambs from regular consignor Messrs Ridsdale, Yew Tree Farm, selling at £107 to Messrs Powley, Penrith. Closely followed at £94 was the first prize pen of Texel hoggs from Messrs Neill, Upper Tinwald and selling to Mr Ross, Dumfries.

2nd – M Watson, Four o Boot - £87 to WH & M Sisson & Son, Brampton.
3rd – R Neill, Upper Tinwald - £90 to J & I & B Curry, Eyemouth.
Ewes and shearlings sold to extreme rates with several new purchasers in attendance, with great demand right through. The sale for all classes of sheep ranging from strong outfits to horned ewes being very easily sold and to a top of £77 for a Charollais ewe with a strong lamb from Matthew Thomson, Pilmuir.
