Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their Grand Opening Sale of Store Lambs at Longtown on Tuesday 25^th July 2017, where there was 2,505 forward.

A top quality show of lambs attracted a massive ring of buyers from as far away as Shropshire and Lincolnshire. Trade opened out strong and remained so all day. Averages showed a rise of £2.40 on the year. Many more could easily have been sold to vendors advantage.

The entry of 400 Suffolk crosses from Messrs Bradbury, Satchells sold to a top of £74, other Suffolks to £72.50 from Haswellsyke and £70.50 from Eastfield of Wiston.

Top of the day was £77 for Texels from Kilncroft, others to £73 Towsbank, £72.50 The Green (Merrell) and £72 Sharplaw. Beltex to £73 from Whitstonehill and £72.50 Fallowlees. Charollais to £63.50 Porterstown and £62.50 Bayles. Cheviot Mules to £65 Embley. Greyface to £65 Softley, £64 Embley & Sanders Close, £60 Redcat.
