Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 3,586 store lambs of all classes at Longtown on Tuesday 1st August 2017.
Another fabulous show attracted a full ringside of buyers. Trade was again sharp for the excellent quality on offer, with averages for all lambs up £2.47 on the year. Top of £80 for a Texel from Crindledykes, others to £75 Shepherds Cottage and £71 Fallowlees. Suffolks to £77.50 Hullerbank. Charollais to £76 Flatt. Cheviot Mules to £69 Shepherds Cottage and £66 Blakehopeburnhaugh. Beltex to £75 Whitstonehill. North Cheviots to £60 Kelsocleugh & Binks. Lleyns to £62.50 Brotherstone. Greyface to £69.50 Crindledykes, £64.50 Parsonshields & Nether House, £64 Saunders Close. Blackface to £50.50 Smiddy Hill.

Two large consignments were to the fore, the first Messrs Bradbury, Satchells who’s consignment sold to a top of £77 and the second from Messrs Jardine, Fairgirth whose top was £75.
