Kintyre Breeding Sheep Sale 2017
C&D Auction Mars Ltd, in conjunction with the Kintyre Agricultural Society, held their annual sale of rams and females in Anderston Park on Friday 15th September 2017.
A good day ensured a large crowd of buyers and local farmers saved on time by buying on their doorstep. A near total clearance in all sections was had with 87 rams and 226 females on offer. The best quality rams sold at very high rates with others as of last year. Females in demand and may more could be sold to vendors advantage.
The sale topped at £600 twice for Suffolk shearlings from T Cameron, Gartvaigh selling to regular buyer Messrs Millar, High Cattadale. Charollais to £580 and £550 from Messrs Parkhouse, Inverae Cottage to Messrs Barbour, Keil and Messrs MacKinnon, Cleongart respectively. Texels peaked at £500 from Mr McKendrick, High Dalroich to Messrs Lines, Killocraw, with Blue Faced Leicester’s easily sold to £450 from P Grumolli to Messrs Millar, Auchaleek.
Females topped at £125 for a pen of North Country Cheviot gimmers from Sue Francis, Balure to Messrs Gemmill, Ifferdale.
