Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

The C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 6,506 store lambs and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 10^th October 2017.

A similar but poorer show of lambs attracted a full ring of both local and distant buyers. Trade all day proved to be the dearest of the season with strong lambs in exceptional demand. Top price of the day was £76 for Beltex crosses from Mr G Edgar, Low Longlands, Lees Hill. Texels to £67 Thomas Telford Road and Coolingel, £65.50 Winterhope and Towsbank. Suffolks to £64.50 Aryhorkell and £63.50 Gall. Charollais to £63.50 The Crook (Blacklock). Greyface to £64 Solwaybank, £63.50 Eriff Estate, £61 School Cottage.

Feeding ewes to £55 Ballageeil, Cast rams to £56 Coolingel.

Cheviots (2,598) a good show with trade slightly sharper on the week. Top Hill Cheviots to £58 Granton, £52 Parkhill, £50.50 Hindhope (Elliot). Hill Northies to £58.50 Low Longlands.

Blackface (1,640) again strong types in big demand, others similar. Top of £49 and £42 Brieredge, £45.50 and £41.50 The Glen, £44 The Lamperts.
