C&D Auction Marts Ltd had 3,523 store hoggs, cast ewes and rams at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 23rd January 2018.

With extra farmer buyers and the usual distant buyers present, a much larger entry was easily sold at the highest rates this year.

Suffolks to £74 and £71.50 Branxholm Braes and £72 Beckhall. Charollais to £68.50 Haregills and £66 Hallrule Mill. Greyface to £69 Whitchester, £67.50 Main Hill and £65 Palmer Hill. Feeding ewes and rams sold to a top of £74 for Suffolk crosses from Routin Lynn, who also sold hill ewes at £54. Cast rams to £40 from Stonehouse.
