Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had 2,702 store hoggs, feeding ewes and rams and in lamb ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 30^th January 2018.

Another good show of hoggs met a very strong trade with numbers short of requirements. Top of £90 was paid on three occasions for Beltex hoggs from Halfway House Farm, Acomb and £85 Dykehead. Texels to £89 Barnglieshead, £87 Upper Tofts and £82 Tower Farm. Suffolks to £76.50 Routin Lynn. Greyface to £70 also from Routin Lynn. North Cheviots to £70 Nettling Flatt. Blackface to £70 and £65.50 Miltonise. Hill Cheviots to £56 Gillesbie Farm and £55 Newbank.

Feeding ewes to £84 Penningham Home Farm and hill ewes to £53 Balker Farms. Cast rams to £50 Smiddy Hill.

At their first Special Sale of in lamb ewes, a nice quality entry was forward before a good audience. All breeds got nicely sold and to a top of £102 for correct Texel crosses from Larriston Steadings. North Cheviots to £100 Low Longland. Suffolk crosses to £100 Larriston Steadings, with Cheviot Mules to £92 Torkirra.
