Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 204 store hoggs and feeding ewes together with 1,267 ewes and lambs at Longtown on Tuesday 15th May 2018.

A larger entry with all classes again very dear and short of requirements. Top of £119 and £101 for Texels from Beechwood. Greyface to £103 Stockdale. Cheviots to £99 Beechwood. Blackface to £88 Sheilla Hill. Swaledale to £63 Stockdale. Leicester to £77 Macherqduhat. Feeding ewes to £70 Beechwood and cast rams to £71 also from Beechwood.

A much larger show of ewes and hoggs were forward, with new buyers in attendance this ensured trade being much dearer than previous weeks, although a lesser quality show of sheep was forward. Trade topped at £90 a life from Glen Wilson, Hawthornside for three Pure Texel shearlings with twin lambs at foot, closely followed at £89 for a three crop Texel x ewe and strong lamb from Jean Fraser, Sunnyside.
