Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward a much larger show of 642 ewes and lambs at Longtown on Tuesday 19th June 2018.

A tremendous show sheep for the time of year were forward with many new buyers in attendance all eager to purchase. The sale was topped at £102 per life for a pair of Beltex x ewes with single tup lambs at foot from Mrs Dunlop, Corstane, Broughton, who’s consignment of 86 lives averaged £79.69, this was closely followed at £100 per life for a ring full of Texel x ewes with twin Texel lambs at foot from Messrs Browell, Quarry House who consignment averaged £88.19 for 91 lives, also included in the sale was a consignment of Texel x and Cheviot Mule hoggs with lambs from R J Muir, Low Stanley who’s run topped at £87 per life to average out at £74.17 for 156 sold, which is £8 up on the year.
