Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 6,298 store lambs & feeding ewes at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 11th September 2018.

A large company of buyers including several from a distance, keen for lambs. A quality show met a strong demand with last weeks high rates easily maintained. With large consignments from several farms on offer. Top £78 for Texels from Heathfield. Others to £77 Crook & Sundaysight. Suffolks to £77 Heathfield, £75 Felton Demense, £74 Dunshiel; Beltex to £72 Edges Green, £70 Copper Beech; Greyfaces to £63 Cooks House, £60 Park End, £59 School Cottage; Cheviot Mule to £59 Granton; Hampshire to £55 Flatt; North Country Cheviots to £64 Cronklea & Park End; Dorsets to £57 Greenrigg; Swaledales to £28 Border Rigg. Feeding ewes to £74 Newton Farm. Hill ewes to £46 Dunshiel.

It was the opening sale of both Cheviot and Blackface lambs today, a mixed show forward, found all strong lambs in great demand. Top for Cheviots was £56 Effgill, £55.50 Glendinning, £54 East Deloraine, £51.50 Meikledale. Blackfaces sold to £53 & £45.50 Craigieburn & £45 Newton Farm & £43 Collin Bank & £41 Stone House.
