Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward a catalogued entry of 3,443 breeding sheep of all classes at the sale at Longtown on Wednesday 17th October 2018.

The entry of 1,579 lowland sheep saw fantastic demand for quality young white face ewes and mule stock ewes, with ewe lambs being harder to sell. Sale topped at £170 for Texel ewe lambs and £168 for Texel shearlings from AR Bell & Son, Kirkton, Hawick.

The sale of 1,864 hill ewes saw good quality horned and cheviot sheep easy to sell and to a top of £75 for Cheviot shearlings from Easterhouse Farms, Wishaw. Second rate sheep, as with all centres this season, proved difficult to cash.
