Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 1,348 store hoggs and cast ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 2nd April 2019.
Another excellent show attracted the usual buyers, trade surpassed last weeks high rates, where many more could have easily been sold. Top £88 for a Beltex from Coolingel, who sold others to £86 & £83. Texels to £81 Coolingel, £79 The Heugh; Suffolks to £87 & £81 Satchells, £83 Coolingel; Greyfaces to £82 Fell View, £79 Satchells; Cheviot Mules to £81 & £80 Satchells, £80 Archbank; Charollais to £75 Wydon Eals; Romneys to £73 Coolingel; Cheviots to £77 Coolingel & Mount Benger, £73 Lawesknowe; Blackfaces to £81 Cranberry Brow, £67 Mount Benger; Leicester to £72.50 High Creoch.
Feeding ewes again a good trade to a top of £75 for Cheviots from Breconside Farming. Suffolks to £67 Coolingel.
A larger show of ewes and lambs were forward, with all classes well bid for, exceeding all expectations and more sheep could have easily been sold. Sale topped at £86 a life for a first cross Texel shearling with a Beltex lamb at foot.
