Longtown Cheviot Mule Sheep Sale Report

The Country's Principal Show and Sale of 8,794 Cheviot Mule Ewe Lambs and Shearlings along with Cheviot Mule Cross Ewe Lambs and Shearlings was held in Longtown on Tuesday 27th August 2019.

A wonderful show of breeding sheep were shown in strong bloom and a great credit to consignors who took pride in presenting their sheep in grand fettle.

This year’s sale attracted a packed ringside of purchasers from all corners of the British Isles and we thank them for making the journey to Longtown to attend the main sale in the country for this ever increasingly popular breed.

Cheviot Mule shearlings met a strong trade and selling to a new centre record of £220 by Messrs R. McNee, Over Finlarg, Tealing.

Cheviot Mule ewe lambs averaged almost £9 up on the year, however, tupping lambs would be less on the year with running lambs being quite considerably dearer.

Cheviot Mule Ewe Lambs – 5,028 - Average £96.11

Cheviot Mule Cross Ewe Lambs – 986 – Average £101.32
