Longtown Store Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their weekly sale of 6,705 store lambs and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 10th September 2019.
A larger show of stores with quality not up to lasts week's standard attracted a large company of buyers, with several from the south. Trade was buoyant from start to finish with last weeks high rates easily upheld.
Today was the first special sale for Hill Cheviots and Blackfaces, where a nice selection was forward in each section with plenty of buyers around the ringside, trade would be substantially dearer on the year.
Top in the Cheviots was £56 from Glendinning, others to £52 High Thorneyburn & £51 Newton & Binks.
North Country Cheviot to £62 & £57.50 Quarry Lodge, £54.50 Effgill.
Blackface to £52.50 Crindledykes, £51 Collin Bank, £49 Balmurrie.
Beltex to a top price of £73 & £71 from Willimoteswick, others to £71 Keppoch.
Texel to £72 Baggarah, £71 Crindledykes, £70 Oliver Road.
Suffolk to £66 Satchells, £62 Keppoch.
Cheviot Mule to £65 & £61 Shepherds Cottage.
Greyface to £59.50 Baggarah, £57.50 Sunnyside, £57 Butterdale & Kilberry Home Farm, £56.50 Hesleywell.
Tup lambs to £65 for Texels from Kilberry Home Farm.
Hill tup lambs to £51 High Thorneyburn.
Feeding ewes easily sold to £60 from South Port O Spittal.
