Longtown Store Sheep Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 4,657 store lambs and feeding ewes at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 10th December 2019.
A super quality show of lambs attracted several more distant buyers, trade was unbelievable, with all classes much dearer to average £66.55 overall.
Several pens sold at over £90 to a top of £92 for Texels from Aldery Terrace, others to £91 The Bloch & Rowanburn, £90 Harwood House. Beltexs to £91.50 Uppercleuch, £89 Shawhead, £87 Pallet Hill; Suffolks to £85.50 Kirkton Hill, £84.50 Gill Head; Kerry Hills to £70 Shawhead; Cheviot Mules to £85 The Flatt (Atkinson); Zwartbles to £70 Shawhead; Dorsets to £76.50 Scroggie Meadows; Hampshires to £68 Hardens; Greyfaces to £78 Greyside, £76 Cowden, £75 Waterhead of Dryfe; North Cheviots to £75 Yetholm Mains, £71 Kelsocleugh, £70 Meikle Whitriggs, Hill Cheviots to £73 & £71 The Bloch, £71 Glendinning; Blackfaces to £68.50 Greyside, £67.50 Little Tongue, £67 Cowden; Swaledales to £60.50 School Cottage.
Feeding ewes sold to £80 for Texels from Fallowlees, who also sold Suffolks to £72. Cheviot Mules to £79 Waterhead of Dryfe; Greyfaces to £93 Kilncroft. Hill ewes to £55 for Swaledales from Kilncroft; Blackfaces to £51 Kirkton Hill and Cheviots to £45 Carlen Rigg. Cast rams sold to £50 Waterhead of Dryfe.
