Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 5,872 store lambs at their sale on Tuesday 1st September 2020 at Longtown.

A large and quality entry attracted a very large company of both local and distant buyers, trade was again brisk from start to finish with all classes maintaining late high rates.

Quality Beltex and Texel lambs were sold to a premium, as were strong Greyfaces. Overall average £70.23.

Top £95 for Texels from Longformacus Farm, others to £94.50 Greenwell Meadows, £93 Brackenback, £91 Lea Hill; Beltex £94 Greenwell Meadows & Winterhope; Suffolks £87.50 & £81 Satchells; Hill Cheviots £79 Glebehead, £75 Skelfhill; Greyfaces £80 & £77 Hesley Well, £78 Low Lonning, £74 High Lovelady Shield; Cheviot Mule £79 Broadmea; Blackfaces £61 The Row, £59 West Hott Bank, £54.50 Merkland.

Cast rams to £104 West Rennington. Feeding ewes to £80 High Airyolland, hill types to £58 for Blackfaces from High Airyolland.
